my favorite day of the week…

Happy Sunday, friends! How were your weekends? Do anything fun? I had a great weekend -  celebrated my best friend’s birthday Friday night and last night I spent time reading my new book (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo – love it) and watched some movies. I kept it mellow. But I save the serious mellow for today – our day of rest. It’s nice to take a day to prepare you for the week ahead. Downtime is key in keeping it fresh… for realz. I’m also preparing myself for dog sitting.  Susan -  the birthday girl – is going out of town tomorrow for two weeks. This means Isaak gets to have a slumber party for two straight weeks with his very best friend, Ian. These two are something else, let’s just put it that way. They are constant entertainment. But, I am really looking forward to the distraction – I get so damn serious when I become Professional Christian during the week. I love dogs for that very reason – no matter how tough our daily grind gets, they are always there to lighten the load. Unconditional love rocks. I’ll be sure to update you on the boys’ slumber party – photos and videos to document the craziness. Stay tuned…. In the meantime, enjoy your day of rest!

love carries on…

David

Hello, friends. What a way to wake up – I turn on the computer to find more devastation. My heart goes out to those in Chile. I have one thing to say about these disasters we’ve been facing more often these days: we need to wake up. These aren’t random events of chaos – they are signs that there are bigger problems in the world. It starts with us. The first way to bring about peace in the world is to share our love. To treat each other with kindness and, more importantly,  respect. We’re ALL connected.

Speaking of love, today marks the 6-year anniversary of my brother’s death. Six years. David changed my life… Of course I want more than anything to see his beautiful face again, but his love carries on – -  inside of me. He opened my eyes to a world free of chaos. He showed me the secret to happiness: we hold the key.  I’ve been on an incredible journey these past six years. I learned to speak up; to question everything. David recognized the importance of loving thy neighbor as thyself. He would drop everything to help a friend in need. But that was also his struggle, he neglected a crucial part of the love equation: to receive the love. We must stay open. We may encounter some serious pain by living this way, but it’s the only route to take if we want to experience global healing. I may have lost a brother but I gained an important reminder: love is a healer.

PS: Today also marks The Sharing Hub’s 2-year anniversary. Thank you Sharing Hub, you’ve also been an important part of my journey. And of course I must thank you, my dedicated blog readers… Here’s to lots more sharing!
